Unless you live under a rock or simply don’t give a shit about the movie business. (which makes your presence here kidna odd, no?) The Cannes film festival is going on right now.
So far the business has been brisk and bold for the most part, especially for the majors.
Summit entertainment is being touted as the darling of the festival as they have apparently raised over $100 million without the benefit of heavy US investment yet as many people have a high opinion of their slate. Having read 3-4 titles from said slate I can say I hope they have good insurance against losses as I haven’t been all that impressed with the part of their slate I read so far. I am sure they will get something that’s not total crap out there as they have a pretty good record of getting 1 or 2 good ones every festival term.
Now let’s just hope all this business means a better year for movies next years. We’ve had some real shit bombs the last 2 years.
