Mischa Barton was arrested for DUI and possession in December. Rather than fight it, since she is dead to rights, decided to cop to it…kinda. E! reports:
[on pleading 'no contest'] The 22-year-old former O.C. star was not present in the Beverly Hills courthouse, instead dispatching her attorney, Anthony Salerno, to enter the plea on her behalf.
“She realized that she made a youthful mistake,” Salerno told E! News. “She is pleased with this outcome. She understands the gravity of this but is glad that this is resolved.”
In exchange for fessing up to the driving indiscretion, prosecutors dropped a charge of marijuana possession and reduced a count of of driving with an invalid license—which, as it turns out, was not so much invalid as nonexistent—to an infraction.
Well, if she really wanted to take responsibility she would just plead ‘guilty’ rather than no contest. No contest is the pussy way of saying ‘well, you are probably going to win anyway so I won’t really admit to anything so give me what you want to give me’
Oh and at 22 you really aren’t making a youthful mistake Mischa. You know you can’t drink and drive by then and you know you aren’t supposed to have marijuana. Stop the bullshit excuses. You fucked up. That’s the only statement that should be coming out of your mouth: “I fucked up”
