CSI star, Jason Beghe, was once a high ranking member of the Church of Scientology. He is now coming out saying that it’s a load of shit and dangerous to the spiritual, financial and psychological well being of its adherents.
Probably sounds about as shocking as ‘if you put scalding water on your testicles, it will hurt’ does.
Although I should mention that in fairness, as kooky as Scientology sounds, it’s really not that much different than most of the other major religions if we really take a look at it. Jews, Muslims & Christians are all expected to give money to their church and no one thinks that is ‘wrong’ or shady, but they do take issue with Scientology asking for the same thing. Seems like a rather large double standard to me.
Perhaps it’s the alleged ‘compulsory’ nature of these donations unlike the other religions which are only ‘suggested’ (if you don’t want to go to hell) I guess if that’s enough to demonize it then continue on.
