Yes, it really is this slow of a news day…
For those in the US; (fuck you ‘but it affects the whole world!’ assholes. It matters but not THAT much. Your country chooses to be as effected as they are) we have the ultimate milquetoast battle coming up in November when Barack Obama (D) will take on John McCain (R) for the White House.
Is anyone really shocked by the choices? The guy who will be steamrolled into submission by Congress into doing what they want regardless of which party is in control (Obama) against the guy who is basically the definition of a moderate but probably won’t get his way very much.
Whoever wins, I’m calling a single term presidency. McCain because he is so goddamn old that I don’t know if he could last 2 terms and Obama because when he is off his cue cards he jams his foot in his mouth HARD; like worse than I’ve ever seen any major political candidate jam his foot in his mouth; yes even far worse than George W. Bush (who’da thunk that’d be possible?).
Then we get to welcome President Jindal in 2012.
