Monday Links-Cannes Film festival

Alas, the time has come again that is known as film festival hell and this one is the second biggest one of the year.

As some of you know, it basically requires me to read all day and write reports on scripts/films that are looking for money. Since that still currently pays me more than this website does, I have to give that precedence unfortunately since I don’t get extra money if they sell a film for a billion and it makes 900 billion.

With that said, the market prep has begun and some days (like today) my ability to blog will be limited.

With that in mind, I have found some links to stories that you may find interesting to tide you over in the meantime.

As usual, if I read any interesting scripts I’ll be the first to tell you about it so the New York Post can steal my post, re-post it on their site and claim it as an exclusive like they did last time. (and the reason they are no longer linked on here ;) )

Links after the break. Continue reading ‘Monday Links-Cannes Film festival’

Robert Goulet Passes Away

gouletRobert Goulet has succumb to his disease, a form of pulmonary fibrosis, which left his lungs non-functional.

A horrible horrible disease to die of. Essentially like drowning on dry land.

He has been a star of stage and screen ever since he was a child shortly after his birth in 1933.

He was 73 years old.

All of our condolences and prayers go out to the Goulet family in this difficult time.

American Idol The Musical: HUGE Failure

CowellAmerican Idol: The Musical, opened on Broadway…and then closed on Broadway after 1 official performance.

Reuters reports:

A musical inspired by the hit reality television show “American Idol” has been voted off the stage in New York — closing one day after officially opening off Broadway.

“Idol: The Musical,” touted as a “satirical musical comedy that focuses on the outrageous and delusional fan base of the hit television show,” closed on Monday after two casts, 47 preview performances and one regular show.

Wow. Who’d have thought that a musical about a show that most people cease giving a fuck about approximately 2 miliseconds after the final show airs would fail in a format that most people haven’t given a flying fuck about in about 50 years?

Man it’s too bad no one (other than most of the western world) saw this massive failure coming or else this could have been hugely embarrassing.
