iPhone Demolition
Word on the street is the iPhone is best left alone until version 2.0.
Some issues:
- no interchangeable battery. If you don’t charge it, you are fucked
- doesn’t sync with corporate e-mail easily or elegantly
- has an iPod component which are already notorious for burning out in 2 years or less
- page load time on yahoo.com was 2 minutes…that is AWFUL
Much of this may sound like stuff that doesn’t apply to the "regular" user, which may be true, but the phone is priced at the business class level and has been marketed as a tool business folks can use.
Besides, anyone who uses pocket PC’s/Smartphones can tell you, the sync function is GREAT even if you are only using for private reasons. The poor data handling is a kiss of death for any user buying this phone. No one wants to sit there for 5 minutes to send an MMS of your crotch to your friends.
It looks pretty and I’m sure someday it might be pretty cool. However, I don’t think it will get above the Sidekick level of functionality and usability. A real expensive toy with very little functional use.
I am officially not excited about iPhone now. Drop the price or make improvements…VAST improvements.

I am a total dork. I saw this thing when it was still a university project prototype. Microsoft picked it up to develop and it is INCREDIBLE! It looks like the interface from Minority Report. Everything on the comuter screen is control by your touch on screen. You can even place a device on teh screen and it will recognize the contents with no need for wires.
I need it bad. Too bad I’ll have to wait til Winter 2007. Christmas gift anyone? I’ll send you my mailing address and Amazon wish list. It will only set you back $5K-$10K, WELL worth it.
